Your guide to wedding gown preservation
The Ultimate Guide to Preserving Your Wedding Gown
Your wedding gown is more than just a dress; it’s a treasured memory, a symbol of one of the most important days of your life. After all the planning, excitement, and joy of your big day, preserving your gown is essential to keep it in pristine condition for years to come. Whether you plan to pass it down as a family heirloom or simply want to keep it as a memento, proper care is key.
At Bridal Chateau, we understand the sentimental value of your wedding gown. That’s why we offer a full cleaning and preservation service that ensures your dress remains as stunning as the day you wore it. Here’s everything you need to know about preserving your gown with us.
Why Preserve Your Wedding Gown?
Wedding gowns are made of delicate fabrics that are often susceptible to yellowing, stains, and fabric deterioration over time. Proper preservation not only keeps your gown looking beautiful but also protects it from these potential damages. By preserving your gown, you can ensure that it remains in the best possible condition for future generations. As your gown will go through organic cleaning and preservation process, as well as an anti-sugaring treatment, the process boasts 100 year guarantee against the yellowing of the fabrics. You aren’t just preserving your gown, you are preserving the memories of your wedding day.
Our Preservation Process
When you choose Bridal Chateau for your gown preservation, you’re choosing the highest standard of care. Our partners have been preserving gowns since 1913, ensuring museum-quality cleaning and preservation. Here’s a breakdown of our process:
Consultation: We start with a personalized appointment to assess your gown’s specific needs. Whether your dress has intricate beading, lace, or is made from a unique fabric, we’ll tailor our approach to ensure the best results.
100% Organic Cleaning: Your gown is carefully cleaned using organic methods, which are gentle on delicate fabrics and safe for the environment. This process also includes cleaning up to three accessories, so your veil, sash, or gloves can be preserved along with your gown. Since our partners ONLY work on wedding gowns, they are up to date on the best cleaning practices on all fabrics, unlike dry cleaners who often use acetone based solvents that can harm delicate laces or ruin glitter fabrics.
Museum Quality Preservation: After cleaning, your gown is hand-pressed to remove any wrinkles. It is then placed in a white cardboard chest that allows the front of the gown to be visible, perfect for those moments when you want to relive your wedding day. We stand by the quality of our preservation with a 100-year guarantee against yellowing of the fabric.
Secure Storage: Your gown is stored in a controlled environment that prevents exposure to light, humidity, and other elements that could cause damage. The declared value of your gown during this process is $2000, with the option to purchase additional insurance for extra peace of mind.
What to Expect
Depending on the time of year, the preservation process can take anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks. We recommend scheduling your appointment as soon as possible after your wedding to ensure that any stains or marks are addressed before they set in.
What to Stains can you remove?
Approximately 95% of all stains can be removed—including tar, blood, perspiration, grass, mud, grease, and food, being the most common, as well as any sugar stains from cake icing, wine, and other beverages.
Why Choose Bridal Chateau?
You don’t have to be a Bridal Chateau customer to take advantage of our preservation services. We’re here for every bride, regardless of where you purchased your gown. We will go over the dress, ask if there are any areas that require special attention (white wine stains don’t show immediately but will yellow the fabric over time, so pointing out areas that may not be visibly stained is important). We will also do minor repairs on your gown all included in the package price. Our commitment is to ensure that every bride has access to top-tier preservation services that will keep their wedding gown looking gorgeous for decades to come.
